It is rare when a nationally televised NCAA football game as high profile as when the Texas Longhorns do battle with the Oklahoma Sooners….that the networks carrying the contests ever gives much live coverage time to the halftime shows….but on this October 8, 1983 telecast on ABC featuring legendary NCAA football sportscaster Keith Jackson introducing the Texas Longhorn “Show Band of the Southwest” in the games’ halftime show.
As seen in the video herewith…..the Longhorn marching band performs the forever popular in the State of Texas ballad The Yellow Rose of Texas during a rainstorm…..all the while that they are spelling our dual up and down script spelling of Texas….which is followed by the University of Texas Fight Song “Texas Fight”….as the up and down script Texas columns march off the field. We at ImaSportsphile call that pretty darn impressive!!!! GO HORNS!!!
