“Mystery Train“ is a song written and recorded by American blues musician Junior Parker in 1953….which was originally performed in the style of a Memphis blues or rhythm and blues tune….as it was inspired by earlier songs….and later became a popular rockabilly song….as first covered by Elvis Presley, then numerous others.  In 1973, with the approval of Sam Phillips, Robbie Robertson of The Band wrote additional lyrics for “Mystery Train”….and the group recorded this version of the song for their Moondog Matinee album…..as they later performed the song with Paul Butterfield for their 1976 “farewell” concert   The Last Waltz….as seen in this video herewith….while Levon Helm and Butterfield combine their percussion and harmonica talents to provide a wonderful rendition of the song.

  • The Murmanschanns, what a duo, I remember them from this show, the Muppets, Sesame Street and other shows. They are the most unique mime artists to grace this Earth. I thought they were amazing and these two routines prove it.
