ABC Special – Jim McKay Hosts The Decade Of The 1970s

DOG ASIDE:

The sports stars in the decade of the 1970’s were brightly illuminated by the development of sports programming on television. In this video, two of my all time favorite sportscasters….Jim McKay and Howard Cosell….bring highlights of some awesome athletes and athletic events during the decade….like the KC Chiefs of the AFL beating the NFL Vikings…..UCLA wins 3rd of 7 straight NCAA Basketball titles…..the Knicks won the NBA….Ali returned to boxing from exile….Jack Nicklaus dominated golf…..and Jackie Roosevelt Robinson passed away. I guess my favorite highlight of the decade of the 1970’s was when club-footed Saints kicker, Tom Dempsey, kicked a record setting 63 yard field goal….but any way you cut the pie….this video provides a great look back at a decade where sports and television came together in cosmic fusion….creating an explosion of sports that start with a fledgling sports and entertainment network known as ESPN in 1978.
