As you probably know by now…..the folks that actually read the stories that we post with our videos here at ImaSportsphile know that we have the highest regard for the comedy troupe The Not Ready For Prime Time Players….which was the original cast of Saturday Night Live during the 1970’s and 1980’s….as they were comedy troupe that were hilarious together as a group and also individually…..for this gathering of phenomenal comedians…..who could do anything in the universe of comedy to include skits, stand up, mime, commentary, music, advertisements, films etc….while covering absolutely every genre of comedy known to mankind…..and Dan Aykroyd was truly one of the troupes brightest stars…..who certainly had the “Midas Touch”….at anything he did.
Dan Aykroyd conceived and starred in Ghostbusters (1984)…… which spawned a sequel….and eventually an entire media franchise. In 1990, he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his work in the 1989 film Driving Miss Daisy….plus, he starred in his own sitcom, Soul Man (1997–1998)…..who is a very astute businessman, having co-founded the House of Blues chain of music venues….and the Crystal Head Vodka brand.
There is no question that this Weekend Update video is from the comedic genius mind of Dan Aykroyd….cuz he leaves his fingerprint on every thing he does….I mean, Mighty Mouse explaining how a blood clot medicine works sounds like products he pushed like The Bass-O-Matic and The Moth Masher ….doesn’t that sound like it came from the same mind!?!
