Michigan International Speedway (MIS) is a two-mile (3.2 km) moderate-banked D-shaped speedway located off U.S. Highway 12 on more than 1,400 acres (5.7 km2) n the scenic Irish Hills area of southeastern Michigan.  In 1972, Roger Penske purchased the speedway for an estimated $2 million….and during Penske’s ownership the track was upgraded several times from the original capacity to 125,000  seating capacity.

In these highlights of the 1979 running of the Michigan 125….the viewers get to see footage of Al Unser Sr. running out of gas…..while coasting into the pits…..as Gordan Johncock takes the lead on his way to victory for the day.
