Auto Racing – 1986 – Indy 500 – ABC Jim McKay Commentary On The Passing Of The Torch At Indianapolis

In this one minute video…..ABC’s legendary sportscaster Jim McKay provides commentary on the “passing of the guard” at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the 1986 Indy 500…..as none of the “old guard” with the likes of A. J. Foyt, Al Unser Sr., Gordon Johncock, Tom Sneva, Bobby Unser et al had absolutely no impact on the 1986 Indy 500…..for this was a race dominated by the “new guard” consisting of “young guns” like Bobby Rahal, Michael Andretti, Al Unser Jr., Kevin Cogan, Roberto Guerrero et al….were the key players in this year’s race….and all were less that 30 years old…..so, as Jim McKay so aptly puts it…..“The torch at the Indianapolis 500 has been passed, as it is a new era at Indy.”
