Auto Racing – 1986 – Indy 500 Special – Jim Lampley + Sam Posey Final PreRace Wrapup Before Start

Sam Posey (born May 26, 1944) is a retired American racing driver and sports broadcast journalist….who became an auto racing commentator for ABC Sports….after debuting on ABC for the Indianapolis 500 in 1974….where he served as analyst.  He also served as a pit reporter….who ultimately returned to the booth starting in 1982….where he stayed for all ABC telecasts of the Indy 500 through 1990.

His partner on this telecast seen in the video herewith was James Lampley (born April 8, 1949)….who is an American sportscaster, news anchor, film producer, and restaurant owner…..when on July 4, 1984, he was teamed with Sam Posey to call ABC’s coverage of the NASCAR Firecracker 400….when he interviewed President Ronald Reagan during the winner’s interview with driver Richard Petty….and then in 1986, Lampley again worked with Sam Posey to call the Indy 500….when both race analysts provide their final thoughts about the impending race….and take the viewers right up to the pace lap….and then the dropping of the flag to start the race.
