Auto Racing – 1986 – Indy 500 – The Elegance & Eloquence Of Jim McKay After The Blowing Of Taps

Taps is a bugle call played at dusk…..during flag ceremonies….at military funerals by the United States Armed Forces…..as well as at the start of the Indy 500 each year….along with a moment of silence….for those who have died at the Indy 500.  The tune is also sometimes known as Butterfields Lullaby, or by the first line of the lyric, Day Is Done. The duration may vary to some extent; the typical recording below is 59 seconds long.

What makes this particular rendition being played at the start of the 1986 Indy 500….is the “elegance and eloquence” in what ABC’s Jim McKay has to say after the playing of taps in this video herewith.
