Auto Racing – 1987 – Indy 500 – ABCs Al Trautwig Interviews 2nd Place Finisher Roberto Guerrero

With 14 laps to go in the 1987 Indy 500…..driver Roberto Guerrero had a one and a half lap lead over 2nd position driver and eventual winner Al Unser Sr…..which was virtually an insurmountable lead even if he made a pit stop for enough fuel to finish the race…..and then came what we at ImaSportsphile call “the pit stop from Hell”…..as Guerrero’s crew completed the pit stop in a very good time of 11.2 seconds….but as Roberto pull out of his pit….his engine stalled….and his crew had to push him back to his pit….thus losing the lead and the race to Al Unser Sr…..for what would turn out to be a historic 4th victory at Indianapolis ….as Guerrero would lose the race by 4 seconds….even with his PIT STOP FROM HELL.
