Auto Racing – 1987 – Indy 500 – Al Trautwig With Hard Luck Drive Mario Andretti After Engine Failure

It has been said that no other driver in the history of the Indianapolis 500 has ever had as much “hard luck” as legendary race car driver Mario Andretti…..as the 1987 Indy 500 provides evidence of this opinion….for Andretti led the majority of the race…..and with less than 30 laps to go….while holding a sizable lead over 2nd place driver Roberto Guerrero….Super Mario once again experienced engine failure….which ended his day of racing…..as ABC’s roving reporter Al Trautwig addresses Andretti’s  “black cloud hanging over him” while in the pits following his day coming to an end…..when Andretti admits that he has no idea what went wrong with the car.
