Throughout the television coverage of the 1987 Indy 500…..ABC utilized some really outstanding race reporters…..like Chris Economaki, Jack Arute and Jerry Gappens (seen in this video herewith)…..who spent a great deal of time interviewing key folks involved in the race….whether it was Indy drivers prior to the race, or after being removed from the race for whatever reason…..or Indy car owners whose cars were significantly involved in the race…..as well as chief mechanics who were facing challenges with their cars during the race…..and each interview is worthy of watching….mainly because this ABC race reporting crew knew the sport so well, that they knew how to ask the right questions to make an interview worthy of watching/
