DOG ASIDE:
The 1962 New York Yankees season was the 60th season for the team in New York….and its 62nd season overall. The team finished with a record of 96–66….winning their 27th pennant….finishing 5 games ahead of the Minnesota Twins. The Yanks were managed by Ralph Houk….and they played at Yankee Stadium. In the World Series….they defeated the San Francisco Giants in 7 games. It was their 20th World Championship in franchise history….and their last until 1977. On May 22, 1962…. Roger Maris drew four intentional walks in a game….and on September 11, 1962…former Ole Miss football quarterback Jake Gibbs made his Major League Baseball debut with the Yankees.
Bone Daddy was a sophomore at Midland High School in 1962…..and being a member of the varsity basketball and baseball teams….he was seriously into sports….he loved the New York Yankees….who were in the middle of a dynasty run at the World Series…..so, when you add all that together…..you have a Sportsphile in the making…..who is basically cocky in his Yankee fanaticism….and you have a young buck who is hard to deal with….if you’re not a Yankee fan.
