During the period from 1964 to 1995….which we at ImaSportsphile refer to as The Golden Age of Boxing ….an era that was driven by live television broadcasts of championship fights in virtually every weight division…..which had a direct effect on attracting the greatest number of legendary boxers….also in dang near every weight class….cuz live television brought BIG MONEY to the sport…..which attracted to shelf athletes to the sport…..and in return, created the best boxing broadcast teams to ever sit “behind the mike” for these outstanding boxing match ups….with ABC’s Howard Cosell…..CBS’s Tim Ryan and Gil Clancy….NBC’s Marv Alber and Dr. Ferdie Pacheco…..and HBO’s Barry Tompkins, Sugar Ray Leonard and Larry Merchant….with the HBO crew being the most formal….as they were dressed in tuxedos for every fight broadcast.
