HBO always put on a great fight telecast….which not only included some fantastic fights during the Golden Age of Boxing (1964 – 1999)….but also featured some of the best Pre-fight Shows and Post-fight Interviews….as they showcased some of the very best “boxer profiles” produced in all of sports….for this video provides evidence to that fact….with great personal profiles of both Mike Tyson and Carl “The Truth” Williams….which makes this video well worth the watch.
The original HBO Boxing broadcast crew of Barry Tompkins, Sugar Ray Leonard and Larry Merchant was one of our favorite boxing broadcasters….and after 10 years at HBO….Tompkins was replaced by Jim Lampley….who is a broadcasting legend in his own right….as he took over for Tompkins for this Tyson vs Williams fight in 1989. Any way you cut the pie….this pre-fight program is top shelf content….with some outstanding pre-fight analysis….some wonderful highlights of each fighter….and as we said above…two insightful profiles on each of these combatants.
