Boxing – Cruiserweight Bout – Evander Holyfield VS Rick Myers imasportsphile

DOG COMMENTARY:

During the golden age of boxing (1964 – 1995) there were many super great fighters and more than a couple of handfuls of legendary fighters…..and two of the super greats who almost reached legendary status…..as Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield and Michael “jinx” Spinks were both great light heavyweight / crusierweight champions…..and both were great heavyweight champions in their own right.

As a result of both Holyfield and Spinks being dominant in both light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions…..and the only two fighters during the golden age of boxing….that is the reason this lil ole Chiweenie Sportsphile has elevated each…..on their own merit….to the super great category of this awesome age in boxing. If I had to choose between the two….I would choose Holyfield…..cuz he had 70 fights to Spinks 32 fights…..plus he fought heavyweight champions like John Ruiz, Lennox Lewis, Michael Moorer, Mike Tyson, Bobby Czyz, Riddick Bowe, Ray Mercer, Larry Holmes, Pinklon Thomas, Michael Dokes, James Tillis and George Foreman. Whereas, the only heavyweights of any significance that Spinks fought were Mike Tyson and Larry Holmes….and that tips the scales for this Sportsphile in favor of Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield.

This video gives the viewer a good view of Holyfield the person in USA Network’s profile of Evander…..and although Holyfield dominates the fight….it is easy to see how good this young boxer that became a super great….was going to be in the not too distant future….which he became, making his worth the watch any time a fight fan gets a chance.
