Boxing – Heavyweight Bout – Trevor Berbick vs Greg Page

DOG ASIDE:

Trevor Berbick was a boxer who was the WBC heavyweight champion of the world in 1986. He won the title from Pinklon Thomas via a 12-round unanimous decision….and then lost the title in his first defense to a 20-year-old Mike Tyson via a 2nd-round TKO. He was the last man to fight Muhammad Ali….winning a 10-round unanimous decision in Nassau, Bahamas on December 11, 1981. His final professional record was 49 wins (33 by knockout), 11 losses, and 1 draw.

Greg Page  was a boxer from Louisville, Kentucky….who was the WBA Heavyweight Champion from December 1984 to April 1985….and like Berbick also losing the title in his first defense. His professional record was 58-17-1 with 48 knockouts….having defeated the likes of Gerrie Coetzee, Jimmy Young, James “Quick” Tillis, Renaldo Snipes, Alfredo Evangelista, Scott LeDoux, James Broad, James “Bonecrusher” Smith and Tim Witherspoon in an exceptionally long career….and was a regular sparring partner for Mike Tyson….who famously knocked the champ down in a 1990 session.
