Boxing – Middleweight Title – Champ Marvelous Marvin Hagler VS Roberto Duran

DOG COMMENTARY:

Any time that two legendary boxers during the golden age of boxing got together in the ring…..it was danged near always a great fight that is worthy of watching over and over…..cuz that’s what we do here at www.imasportsphile.com…..we give you the opportunity to watch these legends fight over and over…since I have some 590 world championship title fights in Bone Daddy’s boxing video library…..and every one of those title fights takes place during the golden age of boxing.

This world middleweight boxing title fight featuring the truly marvelous middleweight that became a legend known as Marvin Hagler…..along with his opponent, the incomparable boxing legend Roberto “Manos de Piedra” Duran…..a truly incredible boxer….who in my estimation was the best lightweight boxer ever to enter the ring.

Marvelous Marvin Hagler has always been a favorite of this lil ole Chiweenie Sportsphile…..cuz he fought all comers while holding the undisputed world middleweight title for just over 7 years during the apex of the golden era of boxing….cuz not only was Hagler a powerful puncher….as evidenced by his career record of 62 wins 3 losses 2 draws and 52 KO’s…..but Marvelous also had a huge chin that could take all kinds of punishment…having  endured the best that Roberto Duran, Sugar Ray Leonard and Thomas Hearns had to offer…..a fighter who would get even tougher when he saw his own blood….evidenced by this fight with Duran and the Hearns fight.

Manos de Piedra on the other hand…..would enter the ring on this night of October 10, 1983 with a record of 77 wins and 5 losses…..having been a world champion in the lightweight division….the welterweight division…..and the light middleweight divisions.  He would continue to fight for another 18 years….retiring in 2001 with a career professional record of 103 wins 16 losses with 70 KO’s…..plus he won world titles in the middleweight and super middleweight divisions…..and he like all the “super great boxers” and “legendary boxers” of golden age of boxing….is worth watching any chance a boxing fan gets.

Typical of the kind of fight that you would expect from these two legends of the ring…..this fight was an all out war that went the distance to a 15 round decision…..as both fighters were still talking smack to each other in the ring after the fight while waiting for the decision to come from the judges…..for there was no shortage of fight in either one of the legendary champions.
