Boxing – WBA Junior Welterweight Title – Champ Aaron Pryor VS Sang Hyun Kim

DOG COMMENTARY:

Aaron Pryor is a former American professional boxer from Cincinnati, Ohio….who held the world junior welterweight champion from 1980 to 1985….and was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1996…..while being voted by the Associated Press as the #1 junior welterweight of the 20th century in 1999.

Nicknamed “The Hawk”….Pryor was a great boxer….who would certainly have become a super great fighter during the golden age of boxing from 1964 to 1995…for The Hawk might have become a legend, cuz he was that good…..but being a boxer in this age of “big bucks” being paid by contracts supported by television money….was the reason for him not being remembered in the annals of boxing history like Duran, Leonard, Hearns, Hagler, Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, George Foreman and so many more…..for unlike these legendary fighters who entered the ring….fame and money brought drugs and late nights.

History will not remember Aaron Pryor as it should….for this man was a truly incredible boxer….who had his title that he held for 5+ years stripped from him at the height of his career…..which ended with a record of 39 wins 1 loss and 35 KO’s long before he was past his prime…..only because money put a “drug monkey” on his shoulders that he could never really discard.

In this junior welterweight title fight….The Hawk literally destroyed # 1 contender Sang Hyun Kim…..in an exhibition of talent that goes a long way in proving my point about Pryor’s greatness.
