DOG ASIDE:

Daniel Erwin “Dan” Jansen is a retired American speed skater. A multiple world champion in sprint and perennial favorite at the Winter Olympics…he won a gold medal in his final race (1,000 meters) in the 1994 Winter Olympics at the end of his career.

Keith James (“Nick”) Thometz was an American ice speed-skater. For most of 1987 he held the World record for men’s 500 meter speed skating. At the Speed Skating World Cup of 1986-1987 he won the 500 meter and 1000 meter divisions. He also won a silver medal at the 1987 World Sprint Speed Skating Championships for Men.

Erik Henriksen was a three-time Olympian in speed skating (1980, 1984 & 1988). He finished as high as 11th in the 1,000 meters at the 1984 Olympics.  In 1999, the three-time U.S. Sprint champion and two-time World Sprint Championships bronze medalist was voted into the Amateur Skating Union Hall of Fame.
