Dan Aykroyd was nothing short of pure genius when it came to comedy…..as his creative mind lent itself to a vast array of comedic thought…..for her was the man that could come up with such unique products as “body floss”….“the mohawk masterr” …..“the bass o matic”….and comedy skits like “the coneheads”…..“the killer bees”…..“E Buzz Miller”….“bad playhouse theater”….”Weekend Update News”….as seen in this video herewith….and so much more.
From the mind of Dan Aykroyd came such movie roles as “Ghost Busters”, “1941”, “Trading Places”, “Dragnet”, “The Blues Brothers”, “Spies Like Us”….and more. Since Aykroyd was a huge fan of “blues music”….evidenced by his harmonica playing int The Blues Brothers music….he also started in 1992, with Hard Rock Cafe co-founder Isaac Tigrett, the House of Blues….which is a chain of music venues….with the mission to promote African-American cultural contributions of blues music and folk art….as many other music and Hollywood personalities helped to finance it at its start….as it began as a single location in Cambridge, Massachusetts…..with other locations quickly to follow….starting with a venue in New Orleans in 1994. In 2004 House of Blues became the second-largest live music promoter in the world…. with seven venues and 22 amphitheaters in the United States and Canada. It was bought by Live Nation in 2006.
Any way you cut the pie, Dan Aykroyd is a giant in two worlds….comedy and music….and we at Imasportsphile are overjoyed to have so much of his work in our library…..as we consider them all to be “nuggets of gold” in our treasure chest of vintage memories.
