Comedy – 1982 – Bill Murray As Riverboat Nick Rivers Sings Proud Mary + Celebrate + Emotional Rescue

Bill Murray is an American actor, comedian, filmmaker and writer…..who first rose to fame on Saturday Night Live….with a series of performances that earned him his first Emmy Award….and later starred in comedy films including Meatballs in 1979….Caddyshack in 1980….Stripes in 1981…..Tootsie in 1982….   Ghostbusters in 1984…..Scrooged in 1988…..Ghostbusters II in 1989….What About Bob? in 1991….and  Groundhog Day in 1993. He also co-directed Quick Change in 1990.  Murray garnered additional critical acclaim later in his career….while starring in Lost in Translation in 2003….which earned him a Golden Globe and a BAFTA Award for Best Actor….as well as an Oscar nomination for Best Actor….and for frequently collaborating with directors Wes Anderson and Jim Jarmusch. He also received Golden Globe nominations for his roles in GhostbustersRushmore (1998), Hyde Park on Hudson (2012), St. Vincent (2014) and the HBO miniseries Olive Kitteridge (2014)….for which he later won his 2nd Primetime  Emmy Award…..as Murray received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2016…..for his comedy which is known for its deadpan delivery.  In this piece seen herewith…..Murray is one of his favorite alter-egos, Nick Rivers, a lifelong riverboat entertainer…..as he performs a medley of songs to include Proud Mary, Celebrate and Emotional Rescue for his riverboat nightclub audience….which provides a perfect example of Murray’s comedic genius.
