When considering the 2300 hours of vintage sports, comedy and music that I am posting on Imasportsphile’s wherewith….it becomes as clear as the nose on this lil ole chiweenie Sportsphile’s face….that the years from which these videos took place….1950 to 1995….were simply the golden age of comedy….for during this era the very best minds of comedy set in place some of the greatest comedic work that has ever been done.
The truth about this golden age of comedy is embodied by the names of comedians that graced the stages and were featured on the marquees of performing theatres all over the world such as Jack Benny, George Burns and Gracie Allen, Jonathon Winters, George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Red Skelton, Robin Williams, Rich Little, Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett, Abbott & Costello, The Three Stooges and so many others….for there is one who stands out above them all….probably cuz of his many years in performing for the US Military servicemen all over the world for some 31 years….and that would be Bob Hope.
This video is part of his Road to Hollywood special that was aired on NBC….as this special took the viewers on a walk down memory lane…..with all the famous entertainers that Bob had worked with throughout his career….as this clip featuring Rosemary Clooney, Lucille Ball and James Cagney just amplifies the fact that more artists and entertainers of notoriety graced the stage with Bob Hope….and is well worth the watch.
