Comedy – Special – Smothers Brothers Host Young Comedians – Jerry Seinfeld

DOG ASIDE:

Long before Jerry Seinfield got his own comedy sitcom television show that originally ran for nine seasons on NBC from 1989 to 1998 was ever seen by American television audiences….this talented comedian was on the “stand-up circuit”….and his first ever television appearance was on this 1982 Young Comedians Special that was hosted by The Smothers Brothers….which was long after their own weekly TV program The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour was cancelled by CBS in 1969.

As you will see by viewing this video clip….Jerry Seinfeld was a very talented and funny stand-up comedian….who just 7 years later parlayed his special brand of humor into his very popular TV show named Seinfeld….which was created by Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld himself…..who starred as a fictionalized version of himself….with a set which predominantly took place in an apartment building in Manhattan’s Upper West Side in New York City….in a weekly show that featured a handful of Jerry’s friends and acquaintances….particularly his best friend George Costanza (Jason Alexander)….his former girlfriend Elaine Benes (Julia Louis-Dreyfus)….and neighbor across the hall Cosmo Kramer (Michael Richards). It is often described as being “a show about nothing”….as many of its episodes are about the minutiae of daily life….but obviously this “minutiae of daily life” became so popular and well liked….that cable TV audiences today in 2017 are still watching re-runs of Jerry Seinfeld’s most successful gig.

Regardless, this video is full of laughs that are worth enjoying over and over again….for it is awesome to see Jerry Seinfeld’s first TV appearance.
