
This video has CBS John Tesh narrating coverage of the 1986 Tour de France from the 2nd floor window of a 19th Century French farmhouse…..as the peleton passes in the forefront of the camera’s view…..as he covers the race throughout the 1st five days of the race…..which includes the Prologue won by FRA Thierry Marie on July 4th…..on a 4.6 km / 2.9 mile individual time trial course from Boulogne to Billancourt……then on July 5th, Stage 1 was raced from Nanterre to Sceaux….which was an 85 km / 52.8 mile Plain Stage won by BEL Pol Verschuere ….and on that same day, Stage 2 was run….which was a 56 km / 34.8 mile team time trial race from Meudon to Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines….and that was won by Systeme U.
Stage 3 took place on July 6th….which wa a 214 km / 133 mile plane stage won by USA Davis Phinney from Team 7-Eleven….which was indeed a surprise victory since this was Team 7-Eleven first Tour…..then on July 7th….ESP Pello Ruiz Cabestany won the 243 km / 151 mile plain stage run from Lievin to Evreux.
John Tesh caps his narrative of the 1st 5 days of the 1986 Tour his description of the 124.5 km / 77.4 mile plain stage from Evreux to Villers-sur-Mer…..which was won by NED Johan van der Velde….and any way you cut the pie…..this is a very enjoyable video to watch….as it meshes great bike racing with incredible scenery and photography and expressive music that goes along with the race.
