By the time the 1987 Tour de France had rolled around….there were three women masseuse who were working on the USA’s 7 Eleven team….which had broken the long tradition of male masseuses….but these 7 Eleven team girls had many more jobs than just providing massages for the riders….from baggage valets, while keeping in mind that there were 9 riders on the team who slept in a different hotel 26 days in a row (that’s a lot of baggage hauling)…..plus preparing meals and rations for the days ride….so, this wasn’t some “massage therapist kinda gig”….for these gals had to work every bit has hard as the riders each day of The Tour.
CBS John Dockery provides a wonderful insight into the support that is necessary to keep a “well oiled Tour de France cycling team” healthy and on the road of competition throughout the entire competition….which makes this video well worth the watch.
