Cycling – 1987 – Tour De France – Stage 12 – 159 Miles From Poitiers To Chaumel – With Phil Liggett

Stage 12 of the 1987 Tour de France was a 159 mile trek from Poitiers to Chaumel, France….which consisted of a fairly flat road race on a narrow paved road….which just started climbing towards the end of the Stage as the riders got closer to Chaumel.

Poitiers, France is a city on the Clain river in west-central France….which is a commune and the capital of the Vienne department….and also of the Poitou….as it is a significant university center…..with the center of town being picturesque….whose streets include historical architecture…..especially religious architecture from the Romanesque period.

In this video herewith…..CBS’s roving reporter, Phil Liggett, provides a wonderful overlay of the 159 mile race course that the riders will be traveling…..as well as insights into the various race teams and the lead group of riders including MEX Raul Acala, FRA Laurent Fignon, IRE Stephen Roche, COL Luis Herrera, USA Andy Hampsten and FRA Charly Mottet.

If you are a cycling fan….you will definitely enjoy watching this video…..as it is well worth the price of admission.
