Cycling – 1987 Tour De France Tim Ryan + John Dockery At St Tropez As The Race Enters The Alps

CBS sportscasters Tim Ryan and John Dockery set the stage for the 1987 Tour de France as it is about to enter The Alps for five Stages in the mountains…..as seen in this video herewith…..when the Tour has a rest day at the internationally known resort town of Saint-Tropez.

Saint-Tropez, familiarly called St-Trop, is a town on the French Riviera some 100 km (62 miles) west of Nice in the Var region of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur part of Occitania, Southern France.

Saint-Tropez was a military stronghold and fishing village until the beginning of the 20th century….as it was the first town on this coast to be liberated during World War II as part of Operation Dragoon. After the war, it became an internationally known seaside resort….which is renowned principally because of the influx of artists of the French New Wave in cinema and the Yé-yé movement in music. It later became a resort for the European and American jet set and tourists.
