Skate America is an international, senior-level figure skating competition held as part of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating series….which is hosted by U.S. Figure Skating…..as the location changes yearly…. which was held in St. Paul, Minnesota….where medals are awarded in four disciplines in men’s singles, ladies’ singles, pair skating and ice dancing. The first Skate America (officially called Norton Skate) was held in 1979 in Lake Placid, New York…which was the test event for the 1980 Winter Olympic Games. It was incorporated into the Grand Prix Series in 1995, the year of the series’ inception.
Jim Kelly is an American sportscaster who has worked for ESPN and CBS Sports…..when from 1985 to 2002….Kelly worked at ESPN…..where he covered golf….college football….thoroughbred racing,…the NHL college basketball….tennis….bowling….and The America’s Cup figure skating competition….as seen in this video herewith….to which he won a CableAce Award for his coverage of the 1987 America’s Cup.
