The 1987 World Figure Skating Championships were held in Cincinnati, Ohio in March…..with medals being awarded in men’s singles, ladies’ singles, pair skating, and ice dancing…..which resulted with USA Brian Boitano winning gold….with CAN Brian Orser winning silver…..and USSR Alexander Fadeev winning bronze….as DDR Katarina Witt won the women’s gold medal….with USA Debi Thomas capturing the silver medal…..and USA Caryn Kadavy winning the bronze medal.
The Soviets dominated the Pairs Competition with Ekaterina Gordeeva + Sergei Grinkov capturing gold……while Elena Valova + Oleg Vasilliev garnered the silver medal….as USA Jill Watson + Peter Oppegard captured the bronze medal. The USSR also dominated the ice dancing competition with Natalia Bestemianova + Andrei Bukin taking gold….Marina Klimova + Sergei Ponomarenko winning the silver medal….as CAN Tracy Wilson + Robert McCall captured the bronze medal.
