The Legends of Golf Tournament is often called “The tournament that launched the Seniors / Champions Tour“…..which from 1978 until 2012 was known as the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf Tournament…..when from 1978 to 1985, the tournament was played at Onion Creek Country Club in Austin, Texas. In addition to providing a showcase for all the golfing greats from years past who are over 50 years of age, this tournament also afforded golf fans the opportunity to mix and mingle with the professionals on a much more personal basis than at regular PGA events….and the fans just loved that opportunity.
As we have mentioned before, our Bone Daddy, the original Sportsphile, attended this event each and every year that it was played at Onion Creak….and being the way that he was, he did a great deal of interacting with the players throughout the course of each year’s tournament….as he loved to follow Mysterious Mr. X, Miller Barber as he played his rounds…..especially when he was teamed with Julius Boros…..so, this video brings, like all the Legends of Golf videos in our library, back a slew of wonderful memories to him…..as we at ImaSportsphile are literally “tickled pink” with every video in our Legends of Golf library.
