Golf – 1985 – Highlights – US National Amateur Tournament – Host Jack Whitaker

DOG ASIDE: 

ABC’s golf expert for many years, Jack Whitaker, provides a wonderful overview and highlights of the 1985 US National Amatuer Golf Championship….as it evolved into the quarter finals of match play….featuring players like Jay Sigel….who had won this tournament in 1982 and 1983….along with Scott Verplank….who had won in 1984….but both were defeated in their quarter final matches….as Sam Randolf out of USC would defeat Jack Michael Kay Jr. 4 – 3 to move into the finals….when Peter Persons of the University of Georgia would play his college teammate, Chip Flurrey….to advance to the finals….when Sam Randolf would defeat Peter Persons 1 – 0 to win the title.   

Any way you cut the pie….if you are a golf enthusiast….you are going to enjoy watching this short piece of amatuer golfing history.
