Jack William Nicklaus (born January 21, 1940), nicknamed The Golden Bear, is an American retired professional golfer….who many golf gurus and observers regard him as the greatest golfer of all time.  During a span of more than 25 years, he won a record 18 major championships….while producing 19 second-place finishes….and 9 third-place finishes.  Nicklaus focused on the major championships…. Masters Tournament, U.S. Open, British Open Championship and PGA Championship….while playing a selective schedule of regular PGA Tour events….yet still finished with 73 victories….which is third on the all-time list behind Sam Snead with 82 and Tiger Woods with 80.

In golf, a skins event has players compete for prize money on each individual hole.  NBC Sports was instrumental in producing an annual skins game for PGA golfers….which took place in November or December each year after the end of the official PGA Tour season from 1983 – 2008.  It was recognized by the PGA Tour but did not count towards the official money list. 

This 1985 Skins Game featured the foursome of Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson and Fuzzy Zoeller…which included this introspective Vin Scully interview of the a true legend of golf….The Golden Bear Jack Niclkaus.
