This short video clip is a promo for The Mazda Champions Tournament from Jamaica….which features members of the PGA (Professional Golf Association) like Arnold Palmer and Don January playing side-by-side with members of the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) like Nancy Lopez for $500,000….which was quite a lot of money for a non-sanctioned PGA tournament back in 1985.
The truth be known….I could not find much information about this tournament…..or whether it eventually turned into an accredited event……but the simple fact that this event was not televised on any network…. major or not….and the fact that this promotion was generated by the event producers….makes it a one of a kind in our library.
