Horse Racing – 1987 – Jack Whitaker Interviews Demons Begone Jockey Pat Day After Kentucky Derby

DOG ASIDE:

Going into the 113th Running of the Kentucky Derby…..Demons Begone was the odds-on favorite to win….whose profuse bleeding during the race resulted in him being pulled up on the backstretch by Jockey Pat Day….seen in this video herewith….which brings to mind just how fragile these large fast creatures are….and the thoroughbred just loves to run.

Demons Begone raced as a home bred for Mr. and Mrs. John Ed Anthony’s Loblolly Stable. He went into the Kentucky Derby off triumphs in the Arkansas Derby….Rebel Stakes….and Southwest Stakes…. Outrun in the early going, the colt began bleeding so bad that jockey Pat Day had no choice but to stop with him.
