I have often written about the “elegance and eloquence” of Jim McKay when he gets a mike in his hand to introduce an event featuring a special athlete…..and this video is just living proof of how we feel about McKay…..“The son surpassing the father….a very American story.”….as he tells the story of Alysheba ….son of Alydar….who would have won the Triple Crown had Affirmed not raced….as seen in this video herewith.
Jim McKay had a wonderful way of making the sport that he was involved in the broadcast sound so normal with all things not sports…just an American story….for he understood that sports runs deep through the fiber of Americans….and now we have tons of living proof of father and sons in the same American story.
