MLB – 1981 – NBC PreGame Special – World Series Game 2 – New York Yankees Vs Los Angeles Dodgers –

DOG COMMENTARY:

This NBC Sports pregame telecast of Game 2 of the 1981 World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers verses the New York Yankees provides a wonderful piece of MLB history….for there never has been and probably never will be an MLB World Series rivalry more storied than the Yankees vs Dodgers….as this Series match marked their third meeting in the Series in the past five years….as well as making this World Series rivalry a MLB record 11 times….and being the last time these two teams would meet to date….. which also makes this video another important piece of MLB history.

This NBC pregame telecast features an absolutely outstanding broadcast crew including legendary sports broadcaster Curt Gowdy…..along with legendary MLB broadcasters Joe Garagiola, Tony Kubec and Tom Seavers….as the feature some of the best highlights of past Dodger vs. Yankees World Series games….along with awesome interviews of guys like Yanks Ron Guidry, Reggie Jackson, Craig Nettles, Dave Winfield….and Dodger greats like Steve Garvey, Ron Cey, Dusty Baker et al.

The Dodgers won the Series in six games in a mirror image of the two teams’ last Series meeting in 1978….for their first title since 1965….and their first victory over the Yankees since 1963….which was their third World Series win over the Yankees overall.  This is the last World Series that a team won after losing the first two games on the road. This also was the last meeting between teams from New York City and Los Angeles for a major professional sports championship until the Los Angeles Kings and New York Rangersreached the NHL’s 2014 Stanley Cup Finals….plus it is also the last meeting between the Dodgers and the Yankees in the World Series to date….which makes this MUST SEE TV for all Yankees and Dodger fans for sure….and really for any and all baseball fans..
