Growing up as a boy playing Pony League and High School baseball in Midland, Texas during the 1960’s….there were the M & M Boys of the San Francisco Giants….consisting of Willie McCovey and Willie Mays….and the M & M Boys of the New York Yankees….consisting of Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle….and they were the two most feared hitting tandems in Major League Baseball. In the 1961 season alone these duos hit a total of 173 HRs cumulatively ….as McCovey had 18 and Mays had 40…..while Mantle had 54 and Maris had 61.
This video pays tribute to one of those M & M Boys…..who was known as The Say Hey Kid….who without a doubt is one of the 10 greatest baseball position players of all time….Willie Mays….as the San Francisco Giants retire his # 24 on Willie Mays Day.
