MLB – 1985 – Baseball Behind The Seams Profiles Braves Bruce Benedict + Bob Watson + Terry Forster

Actor Kirk Douglas spins a wonderful tale about what baseball meant to kids all over America in 1985 in his introduction to this WTBS Sports program, Baseball Behind The Seams…..for you can tell from the very start that although Douglas had not played a lot of the game…..he still had that “glow in his eye” and “glee in his voice”…..while describing the game of baseball….for he was a true fan…..as this program provides evidence there of.

Although the Braves were coming off a Division Championship the year before Baseball Behind The Seams was aired in 1985….a season in which the Braves would have a complete meltdown…..and subsequently three different managers, Joe Torre, Eddie Haas and Bobby Wine….after they had picked up closer extraordinaire Bruce Sutter…..along with slugging 3b Bob Horner to go along with NL MVP Dale Murphy….when in truth, there was great anticipation for this team during this entire program…..the fact remains that the Braves ended up next to last in the NL West…..with a record of 66 – 96.

This video clip covers four key Braves players for the upcoming 1985 season in catcher Bruce Benedict, the team comedian…..along with the Braves wise old veteran and team leader, first baseban Bob Watson……plus, 23 year old “projected phenom” outfielder Brad Komminsk…..and last but not least, the fiery “mouth from the South” relief pitcher Terry Forster….while providing an inside look into the core of the Atlanta Braves lineup.
