During the decade of the 1980’s, ESPN had two very good baseball specials that ran weekly on the network during baseball season…..with one being Baseball’s Greatest Hits…..which was hosted by George Grande….and the other being Inside Baseball which was typically hosted by David Sullivan….as seen in this video herewith…..and Lou Palmer, who was one of the original sportscasters at ESPN when it launched in 1979.
George Grande (born 1947) is an American sportscaster….who is a former broadcaster for the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball…..while being famous for having hosted the first broadcast of SportsCenter on ESPN in 1979…..as Grande and Lee Leonard were the first two people to be seen on ESPN upon its launch….when after Leonard gave an introduction to viewers concerning what the network was all about….he passed the mike to Grande….who was sitting at a desk dubbed the “ESPN Sports Center”….which became the name of the fledgling network’s nightly news broadcast.
In the early years of the network, he served as host, along with David Sullivan, of the Inside Baseball weekly magazine program….which ultimately evolved into the current Baseball Tonight program seen on ESPN in 2018.
On the other hand, the host of this episode of Inside Baseball program below, David Sullivan, is a bit of a mystery….cuz it has been very difficult to find any information at all about him….which leads us at ImaSportsphile to believe that he wasn’t on the air very long….so, the handful of videos that we have in our library are obviously very rare….so, if any of our readers know anything about this David Sullivan, sportscaster for ESPN….then please leave us a comment so that we can give his his due.
