MLB – 1983 – All Star Game Special – Mel Allen Salutes The Old Timers & Provides Highlight Of Game

This wonderful piece of Major League Baseball history is narrated by the legendary voice of the New York Yankees, Mel Allen….who was also the voice of the tremendously popular MLB weekly show, This Week In Baseball  …..which was abbreviated as TWIB pronounced phonetically….was an American syndicated television series which focused on Major League Baseball highlights…..and was broadcast weekly during baseball season program that featured highlights of recent games, interviews with players and other regular features….as the popularity of the program was best known for its original host, New York Yankees play-by-play commentator Mel Allen….which was a program that also helped influence the creation of other sports highlight programs….including  ESPN’s SportsCenter. .

The 1986 Major League Baseball All-Star Game was the 57th playing of the midsummer classic between the all-stars of the American League (AL) and National League(NL)….which are the two leagues comprising Major League Baseball. The game was held on July 15, 1986, at the Astrodome  in Houston, Texas….which is the home of the Houston Astros….then of the National League….and today in 2019 of the American League. The game resulted in the American League defeating the National League 3-2….which ended a streak where the NL won 13 of the last 14 games….as Boston Red Sox pitcher Roger Clemens was named the Most Valuable Player.
