MLB – 1986 – Keith Jackson + Tim McCarver On Astros P Mike Scott On 3 Days Rest For NLCS Vs Mets

DOG ASIDE:

Our Bone Daddy, the original Sportsphile, saw the entire 6 game 1986 National League Championship Series (3 at The Astrodome in Houston and 3 at Shea Stadium in New York) between the New York Mets verses the Houston Astros….which he calls the greatest 6 game NLCS in history….and an NLCS that could have easily gone to the Astros

In this video, ABC’s legendary sportscaster, Keith Jackson…..who was teamed-up in the booth with another baseball broadcast legend, Tim McCarver….as they discuss the potential effectiveness of Astro pitching ace, Mike Scott, as he prepared to take the ball to open Game 4 of the Astro series with the Mets….who had just the night before…..beaten Houston’s co-ace Nolan Ryan with a walk-off HR by Mets OF Lenny Dykstra in the bottom of the 9th of Astro closer Dave Smith….with the Astros up by one run going into the bottom of the 9th.

The discussion between these two broadcast legends was a pretty good foreshadowing of what would turn out to be an impressive Astros’ ace Mike Scott victory….after pitching on three days rest…as the right-hander went the distance on a three-hitter to earn his second victory of the series in Houston’s 3–1 triumph.
