Talk about a rare treasure….this video of the 5th Annual National Old Timers Game Classic is laced with baseball history from every perspective….as the game was played at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C…..and was hosted by legendary baseball broadcasters Ernie Harwell…..who broadcasted live MLB games from 1943 to 2002 and was a Ford Frick Hall of Fame Award winner in 1981….who teamed up on this historic event with Jack Brickhouse….who broadcasted live games for the White Sox and Cubs from 1940 to 1981…as these two legends of the MLB live broadcast booth have over 100 years of bringing baseball to America between them.
When you consider there were 18 Hall of Fame members playing in this game including Ralph Houk, Joe DiMaggio, Willie Mays, Warren Spahn, Hank Aaron, Bill Mazeroski, Brooks Robinson, Lou Brock, Enos Slaughter, Al Kaline, Willie McCovey, Frank Robinson, Bob Feller, Luke Appling, Early Wynn, Willie Stargell and Catfish Hunter….how could a baseball fan or sports fan not want to watch this wonderful “blast from the past”….for it truly is a video treasure.
