Music – 1942 – Bing Crosby + Dorothy Lamour + Bob Hope – Moonlight Becomes You – In Road To Morocco

Moonlight Becomes You is a popular song composed by Jimmy Van Heusen….with lyrics by Johnny Burke….as the song was written for the Paramount Pictures 1942 movie release of Road to Morocco….whereas the music was also published in 1942 in connection with the film…..when Paramount’s then staff arranger, Vic Schoen wrote the arrangement.

The song has been recorded many times….while becoming a standard….but the truth be known….. the recording by Bing Crosby on June 12, 1942 is the best known…..as it topped the Billboard charts in 1942…..and spent a total of 17 weeks in the lists.  The list of folks that have recorded this song is also pretty impressive….with the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Engelbert Humperdinck, Frank Sinatra, The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Nora Aunor, Harry James and his orchestra, Jack Jones, Jerry Vale, Johnny Mathis, Mel Torme and so many more….but the best loved of all the renditions was when Bing Crosby, Dorothy Lamour and Bob Hope sang “Moonlight Becomes You” on the Road To Morocco in 1942…..as seen in this video herewith.
