Music – 1978 – Garrett Morris & Howard Shaw And The NBC Saturday Night Orchestra – I Love You

DOG ASIDE:

This 1978 opening song for NBC’s Saturday Night Live is introduced by Dan Akroyd and features the NBC Saturday Night Orchestra with Garrett Morris singing I Love You…. while being accompanied by Gilda Radner, Jane Curtain and Lorraine Newman.

Saturday Night Live featuring the Not Ready For Prime Time Players of Akroyd, Morris, Radner, Curtain and Newman….along with John Belushi and Bill Murray were well on their way to becoming the most popular weekly comedy program on television in 1978…..which brought crowds of 250 – 500 people to Bone Daddy’s bar and restaurant every Saturday night to view this awesome cast of comedic talent perform on live television….as the bleacher section at Madison Square Garden, The Sports Place at 302 E. 6th Street in Austin, Texas….would fill to capacity with comedy seekers who reveled in pitchers of draft beer, MSG burgers and laughter….for it was a time that is well-remembered by those who shared in this weekly experience.  Bone Daddy would eventually video tape over 150 episodes of SNL….and clips like this one are simply priceless in our comedy section of the ImaSportsphile video library.
