Every now and then, we get a video that makes it difficult for us to decide what category the video should go in….as seen in this video herewith…..where comedian Bill Murray sings Happy Birthday to the light bulb on SNL’s Weekend Update News….cuz Murray is a comedic genius who often uses music to get his humor across to his listeners….which is what he does here.
“Happy Birthday to You“, also known as “Happy Birthday“, is a song traditionally sung to celebrate the anniversary of a person’s birth….which according to the 1998 Guinness World Records is the most recognized song in the English language….while being followed by “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow”….as the song’s base lyrics have been translated into at least 18 languages. The melody of “Happy Birthday to You” comes from the song “Good Morning to All”….which has traditionally been attributed to American sisters Patty and Mildred J. Hill in 1893….although the claim that the sisters composed the tune is still disputed by many.
Anyway, we here at ImaSportsphile are always ‘tickled pink” when we get another video example of the quirky comedic genius of Bill Murray….especially when he uses music as the vehicle of delivery…..which makes this another “nugget of gold” in our treasure chest of vintage memories.
