Music – 1980 – Best Of ACL – Roy Clark & Gatemouth Brown + John Hartford + Jimmy Buffet

DOG COMMENTARY:

In our opinion here at ImaSportsphile…..we believe that Austin City Limits is by far the best long running televised music program ever….as ACL has gone a long way in making Austin, Texas what it is known as in 2018….the Live Music Capital of The World.

This best of ACL program features country music’s national anthem…..The Orange Blossom Special…..a fiddlin’ song of the highest order….and remember, in Texas you’ve gotta have a fiddle in the band….as this version is played by some of the best fiddle players to ever grace the ACL stage….which has been a whole bunch….as this rendition of OBS is a compilation of Mel Tillis and the Stateman…..Merle Haggard and the Strangers……Johnny Gimble and the Swing Pioneers….The Charlie Daniels Band….the Nashville Super Pickers….et al….for this piece is more than worth the price of any ticket.

Next up on this video is an awesome guitar duet featuring “guitar masters” Gatemouth Brown and Roy Clark doing an incredible version of Count Basie’s One O Clock Jump….as their performance on ACL catapulted a successful career of live performances and albums / solos as a pair of uniquely different styles combine for an awesome collection of music. Then comes, folk / bluegrass banjo artist John Hartford playing his eternally popular Rollin in my Sweet Baby’s Arms…..which just picks up the tempo and moves it on down the line.

This video concludes with Jimmy Buffet singing “Living My Life Like A Song”….which is the perfect song to express the approach to life that both Jimmy Buffet and our Bone Daddy (original Sportsphile) have had…..cuz they have just lived their life like a song.  This video is special stuff folks….ENJOY!!!
