Music – 1980 – The Blues Brothers – Jail House Rock – Sung At End Of Their Movie Review Of Actors

Jailhouse Rock is a song written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller….which became a hit for Elvis Presley…..after his RCA Victor release of the song on a 45 rpm single in 1957….as the song had a film release for Presley’s motion picture under the same name, Jailhouse Rock.

Rolling Stone magazine included it at # 67 on its list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time….and was named one of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.  In 2004, it finished at # 21 on AFI’s 100 Years…100 Songs survey of top tunes in American cinema….then in November of 2016, the Grammy Hall of Fame announced its induction….along with that of another 24 songs….and in 2019, it ranked # 31 in the list of Spain’s most heard radio station….while being on Rock FM 500’s five hundred rockers of all time…..as well as being ahead of all other songs of the 1950’s.

In this video seen herewith…..The Blues Brothers perform their version of “Jailhouse Rock” at the end of their 1980 motion picture by the name of the band….as the movie comes to a close….after Jake and Elwood had been sent back to Jolliet Prison….The Blues Brothers perform for the inmates….as the movie credits all the actors and actresses in the movie.  Any way you cut the pie….this video clip is a rare piece of The Blues Brothers music discography….and another “nugget of gold” in our treasure chest of memories here at ImaSportsphile.
