Music – 1981 – Michael Murphey + The Great American Honky Tonk Band – Hard Country – Sung Live At ACL

Hard Country is the ninth album by American singer-songwriter Michael Martin Murphey….which was his first soundtrack album….as the album came about when Murphey wrote and produced the six different songs for the 1981 movie Hard Country starring Jan-Michael Vincent and Kim Basinger….and the song “Hard Country” came from the movie’s soundtrack.

We really like this song….cuz it takes us back to all of Bone Daddy’s stories about growing up in West Texas….which is simply hard country ….as it takes a special type of person to not only exist….but also to  “exist productively”.  The truth be known, we really like it when Murphey says the ONLY thing that makes “hard country” worth living in, are the “the hard partying country darlings” (the girls) of West Texas….and the sunsets, which the girls just love.
