Music – 1982 – Quarterflash – Cruisin With The Deuce – Live In Concert

Quarterflash is an American rock group formed in 1980 in Portland, Oregon….as the band was originally made up of the two current members, Orinda Sue “Rindy” Ross (lead vocals and saxophone) and her husband Marv Ross (guitars), along with Jack Charles (guitars), Rick DiGiallonardo (keyboards), Rich Gooch (electric bass) and Brian David Willis (drums and percussion). Having a lead singer who also played the saxophone made Quarterflash notable…..and In a 1982 interview, Rindy Ross said that she viewed the saxophone as an extension of her voice….which enabled her to express things she could not express with her voice alone…..as seen in this video herewith….when Quarterflash performs “Cruisin With The Deuce”….which was the 3rd hit single from their first album Quaterflash. The words of the song are as follows:

I can roll by
I’m shaking, I was breaking, and it’s always too fast
I can’t quite hold on to this life
And only at moments at night when I drive
Does anything ever feel right

Cruisin’ with the deuce tonight
Cruisin’ with the deuce tonight

The moon’s up and the heat’s down
You can urn off your lights
Roll through the backroads I find
Just when you feel like you’re losing control
Everything falls into line

Cruisin’ with the deuce tonight
Cruisin’ with the deuce tonight

Parking on the front line, I was never that ease
Broken, convinced, and confused
On the bypass, on the freeway, I’m holding my own
Nothing to lose, nothing to lose

Hot nights like a spotlight, you can live out your dream
And forget what you know in your heart
You can hold it, you can shake it, you can shout out your fear
Nobody can screw your up
