We at ImaSportsphile are extremely fortunate to have literally hundreds of renditions of the National Anthem of the United States of America….The Star Spangled Banner…..which have been sung by a wide variety of singers….with some that are inspiring….while others are sometimes difficult to listen to….however, this rendition by Jose Feliciano is absolutely beautiful, brilliant and inspirational. There is something about the way Feliciano delivers this song that moves folks to emotions of pride and glory.
The lyrics to “The Star-Spangled Banner” come from a 35-year old lawyer and amateur poet, Francis Scott Key on September 14, 1814….after witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry by British ships of the Royal Navy in Baltimore Harbor during the Battle of Baltimore in the War of 1812….as Key was inspired by the large U.S. flag….with 15 stars and 15 stripes flying triumphantly above the fort during the U.S. victory.
